PAST NEWS AND EVENTS
OPEN DAY 2018
Our annual Open Day is one of the most exciting days of the calendar, and with our 50th birthday celebration last year, this one was our biggest and best yet!
Held on site at Brendale we converted the carpark into a mini fete with a day full of entertainment and celebration. This year we had Boost juice and Uno Café standing by with juices, coffee and Wood fired pizza, and we even had face painting!
All students were encouraged to take part in performing and we had a terrific turnout of talent this year. We had free trial lessons all day for people to try out instruments that they have always wanted to try play. A huge sale on all day, and used this opportunity to show off our newly renovated shop including our very special new aPurla show room showcasing Mitchell’s line of sustainable recycled handmade guitars, with Nick and Isaac helping out to give a little demonstration on these beauties.
The students were outstanding, the teachers were terrific and everyone had a great time.
But if you missed out this year don’t worry, there’s always next year!
AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF MUSIC CELEBRATES 50 YEARS at the triffid.
This year represents a huge milestone for AAM with us celebrating our 50th year since the opening of our first store in Spring Hill.
The show was held at the iconic Triffid in New Stead. It started with a musical introduction from the Morris Family band which showed just how musically talented that whole family is. This was followed by the students showcase of the decades series featuring '50 Years of Music' which gave students a chance to have their first big performance in front of an audience of over 300 people.
We also saw performances from ‘Brothers Band’. These guys carried the energy up and gave a lot of students a great yard stick to reach towards. We even managed to snag Phil Emmanuel, Tim Gaze,Chris Gilbert and Jon Carson to perform at the once in a lifetime show!
The whole event was a celebration of music, of community and of growth.
